Autumn in the Adirondacks
Sep 22 2023

OLD FORGE, NY – The Adirondacks are synonymous with breathtaking views and those views really brighten up with the introduction of Autumn colors. When the crowds from the summer thin out and the cooler temperatures prevail – you know what’s coming. It starts with little pops of color within the green canopy of the trees followed by the prevalent reds, oranges, and yellows of the Adirondack landscape, creating a beautiful and memorable view.

The Adirondacks and Old Forge have long been renowned for their stunning mountain scenery and bright fall foliage this time of year, making it a prime travel and tourist destination in Central New York and the Mohawk Valley. Activities include hiking, camping, boating, kayaking & canoeing, sightseeing, and more.  According to I Love NY’s official Fall Foliage Report, Herkimer County foliage spotters in Old Forge predict foliage may reach the midpoint of change with up to 40% transition dominated by dark reds and burgundy, along with some yellow, gold, and emerging orange. There is still a significant number of green leaves.

Upcoming events include the Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival on September 23 & 24th, the Town of Webb School Columbus Day Parade Friday, October 6th, Oktoberfest Saturday, October 14th, and Hotel Transylvania at Water’s Edge Inn the weeks of October 13h & 14th and October 20th & 21st.
