“As I Look through my viewfinder, my awareness is heightened. From the vast to the intricate, I see life as it changes moment to moment. I might notice the beauty or uniqueness of the subject or I might focus on the abstract within the usual. I hope to evoke emotion from those who see my images by helping them visualize that moment or by bringing back a memory of a similar place and time.”

Buttermilk Falls

Buttermilk Falls has a short and quite popular trail that leads hikers to many large flat rocks that they’re able to stand on and watch the river and its waterfalls. The half-mile round trip is well worth the drive, with beautiful photo opportunities next to the roaring falls. Reach the trailhead by traveling on North Point Road in Long Lake.

Owls Head Mountain

Owls Head Mountain is a moderate 6.2 mile hike that starts out level and gets a bit steeper as you go on. Once you get to the top, there are spectacular views as well as fire tower that has recently been restored and opened to the public.

Blue Mountain Lake

Blue Mountain Lake is surrounded by mountains and filled with 10 islands that are part of the forest preserve.
